E78: Keeper Confab #03

During this period of lockdown uncertainty, The Goalkeepers’ Union Podcast returns for an interim series tackling some of the game’s big goalkeeping questions.

The latest subject is England’s record male cap holder, Peter Shilton. More specifically, Peter Shilton at Italia 90.

With the BBC screening World Cup Rewind shows over the past few weeks, it became apparent just how Shilts is still recognised for his high-profile errors as opposed to the fact that he was simply one of the best English goalkeepers ever to have played the game.

We look at his selection and subsequent performances at the 1990 World Cup and aim to dispel a few myths along the way.
